Luke 9:43-45    “But while they were all marveling at everything he did, he said to his disciples, “Let these words sink into your ears; for the Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.”

Jesus knew and forewarned His disciples that “…the Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men.”  Yet they did not understand.  What might have been His reason for telling them something they did not understand?  Well, one sure reason is that they would remember this prophecy later, making it clear to them (and us) that Jesus being “delivered into the hands of men”, was not an accident.  It was something allowed by God, to accomplish His plan to forgive us, and make us His children.  On the night before He was crucified, Jesus told them: “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26 RSV).
