Words of Jesus: Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025

Wednesday, December 24, 2026, Christmas Eve

Here are Jesus’ continuation of His instructions that we l looked at yesterday.:

Luke 6:32-36  ““If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.”

 RSV

“Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.”  Imitate our Heavenly Father.  Is that even possible for us limited, selfish, creatures to do?  Based upon observations of ourselves and others, the answer is: NO!  This is where it is helpful, and hopeful to recall the words of the Apostle Paul.:

Romans 12:1-2 (RSV)  “I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

We need to be transformed by the mercies of God.

O GOD, dear Holy Spirit, please work Your works of transformation in us. Amen.

This is a blessed hope.
