Here is a word from God this morning.:

Luke 5:33-35 “And they said to him, “The disciples of John fast often and offer prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink.” And Jesus said to them, “Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.””

So, after Jesus was taken up into Heaven, the disciple did fast. Jesus was no longer physically with them, so prayer and reading God’s Word are the ways that we seek and find Jesus now. These comments of Jesus indicates that fasting is also part of our fellowship with Him. Is it not about the pain of doing without, but more about focusing on the delight of seeking and finding God?
