Today’s Words from Jesus:

Luke 6:24-26. ““But woe to you that are rich, for you have received your consolation. “Woe to you that are full now, for you shall hunger. “Woe to you that laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. “Woe to you, when all men speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.”

 RSV

The first two phrases are sobering.  As you and I contemplate these warnings, do they encourage us to be more generous?  Do they encourage us to share our wealth and food?  The last warning gives us something to think about.  Aren’t we supposed to develop a good reputation?

Does a good reputation come at the cost of being quiet about our allegiance to Jesus, and our desire to love Him and follow Him? In this passage Jesus assures us that being known as His disciple is more than worth any temporary rejections or condemnations by others.

Dear God, help us to seek you and to find you; to find the Creator/

Sustainer of the Universe; to follow You, the Way, the Truth, and the Life; to abide in Your light and love.  Amen.

Loving you today, by sharing Jesus’ invitation to follow Him.
